Abstract |
The memoirs of a British army officer, stationed in Quebec City and later in Montreal, who took part in putting down the Rebellion of 1837. He describes the execution of Lieutenant George Weir by the Patriotes at Saint-Denis, and the subsequent attack on the church in Saint-Eustache where the rebels had taken refuge. In retaliation for Weir's murder, no quarter was given by the British soldiers.
