Abstract |
Between 1913 and 1917, Yehudah Kaufman (1886-1976), a Jewish scholar, researcher, journalist and teacher, lived in Montreal. Although Kaufman's stay in Montreal was brief, the author argues that they were very productive years. During this period, Kaufman contributed significantly to the nascent educational, cultural and political institutions of Montreal's Jewish community, including the Jewish People's Schools, the Montreal Jewish People's Library, and the Canadian Jewish Congress.
