| Abstract |
A study of ethnic succession or "invasion" in the Eastern Townships. The author describes the settlement of the area by English-speaking people, starting in the late eighteenth century up to 1850, and the movement of the French-speaking population into the area up to 1931. Studied are the effects of integration on a commercial-industrial village (Waterville), and industrial town (Coaticook), and a mining city (Thetford Mines).
