A description of the large Irish immigration to Canada in 1847, detailing living conditions on board the "coffin ships" and the reception the Irish received in Lower and Upper Canada, as well as a pious account of the Catholic priests and nuns who tended the sick at the Grosse Îsle quarantine station below Quebec City, and in the fever sheds at Montreal.
