The author examines the evolution of the economic structure of Canadian society and the causes, distribution and effects of foreign investment on it. During this period, the economic hub of Canada was Montreal. Volume 1 deals with banking and finance capital; volume 2 analyzes the post-Confederation development of manufacturing and industry.
