Abstract |
English speakers began moving to the south shore municipality of St. Lambert following the opening of the Victoria Bridge, with its railroad link to Montreal, in 1859. By the 1881 census, it was established that Anglophones comprised the majority of the population, a position held for most of the twentieth century.
