Abstract |
A biographical sketch of the Scottish-born William Brown (c.1737-1789), a journalist and printer who immigrated to Quebec, by way of the United States, in September 1763. Brown is best known for co-founding with Thomas Gilmore the Quebec Gazette/La Gazette de Québec in 1764, a bilingual newspaper and Canada's first newspaper.
