Bicultural and Bilingual Adaptations in French Canada: The Example of Retail Advertising
|
Abstract |
An examination of the retail ads of two 'Anglophone' Montreal department stores in the 1960s shows that their advertisements aimed at French-language customers differed from the ads aimed at English-language customers. According to the authors, the ads aimed at French-speaking customers publicized less costly items than those aimed at English-speaking customers.
