The Integration of Ethnic Minority Students Fifteen Years After Bill 101: Linguistic and Cultural Issues Confronting Quebec’s French Language Schools
Abstract
Quebec’s educational system underwent significant demographic change following the adoption of Bill 101, as the children of immigrants were rerouted toward French-language schools and away from English-language schools. The authors maintain that, in comparison with other provinces, Quebec offers a strong number of support services for second-language students. However, they also maintain that the province lacks a comprehensive intercultural educational policy.
