The Walbridge Estate in Mystic
Abstract
From the 1860s to his death, Alexander Walbridge (1828-1897) was an inventor, a manufacturer and a builder in the village of Mystic, Missisquoi County, in the Eastern Townships. He left an imprint that remains to this day in the form of a remarkable twelve-sided barn, a Gothic-style brick church, and a building whose upper storey once served local students' higher education. The remainder of his estate, including his home, has been torn down. The barn today houses the agricultural exhibit of the Missisquoi Historical Society Museum.
