Abstract |
Goose Village was located near Griffintown in the southwest part of Montreal. Officially known as Victoriatown, after the adjacent Victoria Bridge, it was largely populated by working class Irish Montrealers from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century. By 1960, the Irish had been replaced by Italian immigrants. In 1964, the area was demolished on the orders of the City of Montreal. Today, a Costco store and its parking lot sits on what was once part of Goose Village.
