Canada's First Bookseller's Catalogue
|
| Abstract |
A description and copy of what is apparently the very first bookseller's catalogue printed in Canada. The 1800 catalogue was printed by and for the Scottish-born John Neilson (1776-1848), a Quebec City-based publisher, printer, bookseller and politician. The catalogue is a small octavo of sixteen-pages titled: "Catalogue of Books for Sale, 3 Mountain St., Quebec, 1800." A copy of the catalogue was found by the author at the Houghton Library, Harvard University.
