Letters of Rebecca Gratz
|
| Abstract |
Rebecca Gratz (1781-1869) was a preeminent nineteenth-century Jewish American educator and philanthropist. Many letters in this volume were to and about Montrealers, since Rebecca Gratz had constant communication through letters and visits with her niece/adoptive daughter, Mrs. Jacob Henry Joseph (née Sara Gratz Moses). Mrs. Joseph was an important Montreal philanthropist.
