From Hotel to Family Home to Community Landmark...the Rod & Gun Lives On
|
| Abstract |
The author examines the history of an "American Foursquare" design building in Port Lewis/St. Anicet that was first built as a hotel by Samuel Percy in the 1860s, was bought in the 1920s as a summer home by Texan George A. Kelly (formerly from Huntingdon), then transformed into the St. Francis Rod & Gun Club in the 1930s, and into the St. Francis Rod & Gun Hotel - Motel in the 1960s. The building was destroyed in a fire in October 2001.
