English Catholic Education in Quebec: An Annotated Bibliography
|
Abstract |
Prior to the elimination of denominational school boards in Quebec in 1997, Catholic education for English-speaking students never had official and legal status in the province. Rather, the author points out, it had to find accommodation within the context of the predominately French-speaking Catholic school system and evolved into a "third solitude" in Quebec education. Relatively little research focusing primarily on English Catholic education in Quebec has been done. The author presents an annotated bibliography of the principal sources of information available to researchers up to the 1990s, excluding newspaper files and archives.
