The Forgotten Literature: Die Angloquebecer Literatur
|
Abstract |
Despite great variety and the remarkable quality of English literature from Quebec, Anglo-Quebec writing is still a neglected field of research. The author investigates reasons for this phenomenon and discusses its literary, cultural and political implications. The author’s study of the academic discourse on English literature from Quebec displays the complicated relation between “Anglo” and "Quebec.” She notes that the significance of the Quebec setting and its heterogeneity for Anglo-Quebec writing becomes visible through her presentation of concrete literary examples. The author explores elements of bilingualism and hybridity in particular works as well as their various lexical, grammatical, and conceptual layers.
