The Montreal Chinese Hospital, over the sixty-four year period studied by the author, was influenced by the changing composition of the Montreal Chinese community, the development of medical technology, the shifting attitude towards and demand for Western medicine among Chinese patients, and the evolving ideology and organizational emphases of Quebec's health care system.
