|
Abstract |
A sociological study of the adjustment of English, Irish and Scottish immigrants to the Montreal working-class communities of Verdun and The Point in the early part of the 1930s. Although there was a large English-speaking population in these two areas of the city, the author discovered that the adjustment of British immigrants compared to other ethnic newcomers to these areas was one of degree but not of kind.
