Abstract |
The author points out that Anglophone theatrical activity that has been singularly vital in the Eastern Townships since the late nineteenth century. The author outlines a brief history of theatrical, cross-border traffic of English-language drama and theatre in Quebec, and then a comparative analysis of the dramatic repertoire of the Townships' major summer playhouses: The Brae Manor Playhouse (1935–56), The North Hatley Playhouse (1956–62), The Piggery (1965–), and Theatre Lac Brome (1986–).
