Outmigration of Quebec's English-Speaking Youth

Abstract |
The authors note that the proportion of 15-29-year-olds is gradually declining in Quebec from 20.3% in 1996 to 17.8% in 2016. English-speaking youth in Quebec are proportionally more numerous, but also declined from 21.7% in 1996 to 20.5% in 2016, or 225,585 people. A factor in the decline of Quebec’s English-speaking youth is outmigration. The authors examine the reasons that English-speaking youths are leaving Quebec.
