The authors note that in a context where Quebec is strengthening its francization policy (Bill 96), English-speaking immigrant fathers (ESIF) constitute a little-studied group. The authors point out that the particular linguistic situation of ESIF, at the crossroads of the Canadian Anglophone and Quebec Francophone majorities, creates specific challenges in integration, parental involvement, and access to services. The objective of the authors’ study aims to better understand how language influences the experience of ESIF in their social integration, parental role, and interaction with Quebec institutions. The methodology used by the authors was a qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews with 10 ESIF and a focus group with 5 community stakeholders. Their data were thematically analyzed with the support of artificial intelligence software (NoScribe and ChatGPT), while respecting the ethical standards of research. The authors conclude that the ESIF encounter several obstacles related to the language: difficulties in creating social networks, understanding and using public services, and being involved in their children's schooling.
