Au pays des ‘sectes’ : la difficile percée de l’anglicanisme dans le comté de Stanstead au XIXe siècle
|
Abstract |
According to the author, the Church of England was unsuccessful in converting the Anglophone population of the rural areas of Stanstead County, Eastern Townships, until the late 1890s. The author suggests that this lack of success can be understood by studying the "Protestant denominational spectrum," especially the various Protestant sects coming from the United States, as well as the pattern of industrialization and urbanization in the county in the period 1870 to 1900.
