| Abstract |
Arthur Buller (1809-1869) arrived in Quebec in May 1838 with Lord Durham, who was instructed by the British Parliament to investigate the situation in Lower Canada following the outbreak of rebellion by the Patriotes. Buller was commissioned by Lord Durham to look into the state of education in the colony and to suggest improvements. Buller's report was not well received and he left Lower Canada in November 1838.
