Abstract |
Sam W. Jacobs (1871-1938) was first elected to the House of Commons in the general election of 1917 as the Liberal member for the Montreal riding of George-Etienne Cartier. He was re-elected with large pluralities until his death in 1938. Jacobs was a graduate of McGill University's law school (1893),and was elected president of the Canadian Jewish Congress in 1934 when that body was reconvened, a position he held until his death.
