| Abstract |
The authors examine how the Community Learning Centre (CLC) Initiative, introduced in 2006 by Quebec's Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sports, evolved after its first four years in operation. CLC schools are community schools that were introduced to support student achievement and contribute to the vitality of Quebec’s English-speaking minority language community. Currently there are 92 English language schools participating in the CLC Initiative. The CLC Initiative is designed to use schools to offer communities a variety of services, from after-school tutoring, to space for dance and theatre groups, to movie nights, to weekend sports.
