Abstract |
The author's counter poem to Michèle Lalonde's 1970 "Speak White" manifesto. The author's poem was written following the passage of Bill 178 (1988), which amended Bill 101 and imposed French as the only language for outdoor "public signs, posters and commercial advertising." The author emphasizes the importance of respecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of non-Francophones in Montreal.
