Abstract |
Four case studies of hospitality businesses in Montreal from the early nineteenth century to 1913. The four case studies are: a small seven-room inn operated by Eliza O'Brien and her husband from 1824 to 1849; the career of Madame Angélique Saint-Julien between 1842 and 1860, who ran the 80-room Canada Hotel; Henry Hogan's St. Lawrence Hall Hotel in 1886-1887; and The Windsor Hotel in 1913.
