Abstract |
There exists in St. Armand West, in the Eastern Townships, a burial site used between 1794 and 1833 for Black slaves brought to Quebec by a Loyalist family after the American Revolution. The burial site is known locally as “Nigger Rock.” The author researched the history of these Black slaves, and the Loyalist family who brought them to Quebec. Slavery was abolished in Canada in 1833.
