|
Abstract |
Sir William Christopher Macdonald (1831-1917) was born at Glenaladale (Tracadie), Prince Edward Island. He later moved to Montreal, where he co-founded Macdonald Tobacco with his brother, later becoming the sole owner and one of the richest men in Canada. Though the non-smoking Macdonald spent most of his life in Montreal, the author recounts his philanthropic endeavours on Prince Edward Island.
