Title |
Fous, prodigues et ivrognes : familles et déviance à Montréal au XIXe siècle
|
Abstract |
Through the analysis of nearly 500 legal prohibition proceedings between 1820 and 1895, the author examines the interactions between the actors involved in the regulation of deviance: families, judiciary, institutions and asylums doctors. He concludes that the family - not the state, the medical profession or asylum - was the main place of definition and regulation of various forms of deviance.
