Fake and Foul: Quebec's New History Textbook
|
Abstract |
The authors offer a critical review of the Quebec Secondary IV (Grade 10) history textbook, titled "Reflections. Qc.Ca. : 1840 to the Present." This is the second volume of the government-approved history textbooks for Quebec high school students taking the compulsory History of Quebec and Canada course. The authors describe this second volume as "a vast collection of trivial and inconsequential so-called facts" that promotes a Québécois nationalist interpretation of history and ignores or trivializes fundamental events that impacted the social, economic, political and demographic evolution of the province.
