Interlude of Hostility: Judeo-Christian Relations in Quebec in the Interwar Period, 1919-1939
|
Abstract |
The author describes the two varieties of anti-Jewish feelings in Quebec during the interwar years – that of French-speaking Quebecers and that of English-speaking Quebecers. The author argues that the anti-Semitic position of Anglophones did more harm to an emerging Jewish professional class during this period, while the anti-Semitism of Francophones was “rhetorical and metaphorical in character.”
