Title |
La violence entre hommes et la justice au Québec, 1780-1860
|
Abstract |
The author explores the transformation of the criminal justice system in Quebec from 1780 to 1860, the period which corresponds to transition from an old justice regime to a more modern one. Part of his research notes how, after 1810, both Anglophones and Francophones in Montreal and Quebec City increased their reliance on the courts to settle very common acts of violence resulting from what the author refers to as ordinary and daily relationships between men (threats, minor physical violence).
