| Abstract |
Although the author states that her aim is to analyze the role played by the English-speaking Loyalists in the rebellions in Lower Canada of 1837 and 1838, specifically the political situation in Lower Canada at the time of the Rebellions as seen from the perspective of the Loyalists, she puts forward the Quebec nationalist historiographic interpretation that the Loyalists were simply seeking to establish "la prépondérance britannique" over the French-speaking population in Lower Canada.
