Les plaisirs de la danse à Montréal : transformation d'un divertissement et de ses pratiques, 1870-1940
|
| Abstract |
An examination of how recreational dancing evolved in Montreal between 1870 and 1940, especially within the English-speaking community. The author examines four types of spaces that Montreal's English-speaking bourgeoisie spent its dancing leisure time: private homes, nightclubs, upper-class hotels (Windsor, Ritz-Carlton, Mount Royal), and businesses offering recreational dancing in the north part of St. Antoine ward.
