Abstract |
A special edition of Cahiers de l'Estuaire devoted to the summer vacation retreats of Montreal's nineteenth and early twentieth Anglophone elite along the Lower St. Lawrence. Among these summer communities are Little Metis, Bic and Cacouna. Little Metis (now known as Metis Beach or Métis-sur-Mer) was the only one of these communities that had permanent English-speaking residents, mostly descendants of Scottish settlers who had arrived in the 1820s.
