Abstract |
A personal narrative on the medical research of McGill University psychiatrist D. Ewen Cameron (1901-1967) from 1943 to 1964, noting his studies on the treatment of chronic paranoid schizophrenics. Dr. Cameron’s controversial experiments, now thoroughly discredited, used various so-called depatterning techniques, including LSD, on his unwitting patients in investigating schizophrenia. The author was a member of Dr. Cameron’s senior staff.
