Abstract |
The Ontario-born Dr. William Osler (1849-1919), often described as the "Father of Modern Medicine", graduated from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine in 1872. Following post-graduate training in Europe, Osler returned to McGill's Faculty of Medicine in 1874 where he taught for the next ten years. In 1892 he published "The Principles and Practice of Medicine Designed for the Use of Practitioners and Students of Medicine" while working as Physician-in-Chief of the newly-opened Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
