Trajectories of Three Communities in Nineteenth Century Montreal
|
Abstract |
A demographic study of twelve French Canadian, English Protestant and Irish Catholic families over the period from the 1840s to the end of the nineteenth century. The authors show that the three communities functioned as distinctive subsystems, each with its own age-structure, vital rates and patterns of behaviour.
