Title |
Tradition and Innovation in an Ultra-Orthodox Community: The Hasidim of Outremont
|
Abstract |
The author examines the social and economic challenges facing the insular Hasidic community of the Montreal neighbourhood of Outremont in the face of the unprecedented technological advances at the turn of the twentieth-first century. He argues that while the community has implemented some important changes, there is a need to modify survival strategies further in order to maintain community viability.
