Abstract |
The author recounts his early years in Pointe Claire Village, a predominately Anglophone suburb of Montreal during the 1940s and 1950s. He focuses on many of the residents and activities which defined the community during these years, including shop owners, families, Second World War air-raid drills, local war heroes, the RAF Ferry Command, a Venezuelan revolutionary, and the sailors of Pointe Claire Yacht Club.
