Abstract |
The history of a Montreal military regiment, founded in the 1850s, which saw action against the Fenian raiders along the Quebec-American border. Includes background information of most of the leading officers at the end of the nineteenth century. The regiment was known as 3rd Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada from Jan. to July 1862; as the 3rd Battalion Victoria Volunteer Rifles of Canada from July 1862 to 1879; as the 3rd Battalion Victoria Rifles of Canada from 1879 to 1900.
