Abstract |
The history of the Royal Rifles of Canada dates back to February 28, 1862, when the 8th Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles, Canada, was authorized. After undergoing several name changes, it was designated the Royal Rifles of Canada on March 9, 1920. The regiment was reduced to nil strength and transferred to the Supplementary Order of Battle in 1966.
