Main-d'oeuvre féminine et ethnicité dans trois usines de vêtement de Montréal
|
Abstract |
The author points out that in the 1970s, eighty percent of Canada's clothing manufacturing industry was situated in Quebec, primarily Montreal. The author examines the salaries, ethnic and gender makeup of three of these Montreal factories -- Martha Sportswear, Star Creation, and Domestic Garment -- and how immigrants, especially Italians, Portuguese and Jews, had replaced French-Canadian workers.
