Abstract |
A recount of the care given by the Religieuses Hospitalières de St-Joseph nuns to Irish immigrants in Montreal in 1847 who had contracted typhus on the "coffin ships" while fleeing the potato famine in Ireland. The Hopitalière nuns later played a leading role in the establishment of St. Patrick's Hospital in 1852.
