Abstract |
Sam Solomon, a pioneer in Montreal's needle trade, died in 1989, leaving a multi-million dollar estate. Without telling his daughter, the author, in advance, he named her and her three young sons as the executators of his will. Dumbfounded but proud to have been chosen, she takes on the job, never dreaming it will mean thirteen years of playing “this rough sport”. The author describes the machinations of inheritance and the complexities involved in dealing with family and money, as well as dealing with Hasidic businessmen, lawyers and lawsuits associated with Sam's will.
