Abstract |
A sociological study of Montreal's Black community circa 1928. The author examines the growth of group consciousness and group unity within the community, dating from 1897. He includes chapters on the "Ecology of St. Antoine District", the "Natural History of Negro in Montreal" and "Negro Social Organization." In the 1920s, Montreal's Black community lived, for the most part, in the St. Antoine district, bounded by Windsor Street and the Glen Road, between the C.N.R. and C.P.R. tracks.
