Abstract |
Adam Mabane (c. 1734-1792), a Scottish immigrant to Quebec following the Conquest, was one of the founders of the "French" Party, a predominantly Francophone political group in the Legislative Assembly which sought both an acceptance of the French fact in British North America and loyalty to the British Crown. The author includes an account of late eighteenth century English-French relations in Quebec.
