|
| Abstract |
Montreal poet Irving Layton (1912-2006) taught at Toronto's York University from 1969 to 1978. The author took Layton's graduate course on Montreal poetry in 1977-1978. Based on the author's notes from Layton's lectures, this article on Layton is divided into three parts: Layton talking about his life in Montreal; Layton talking about his poems; and an edited transcript of Layton's last class.
