The Sound of Canadian Modernisms: The Sir George Williams Poetry Series, 1966-74
|
Abstract |
Between 1966 and 1974, faculty members at Montreal's Sir George Williams University (now part of Concordia University) hosted the Poetry Series - a program of poetry readings that was conceived as an on-going encounter between local poets and writers from across Canada and the United States. The author demonstrates how these poetry events enabled Anglophone Montreal poets to encounter and engage with contemporary national and international poetic philosophies and practices.
